Trek To Brahmagiri Fort and Bhandardurg

Brahmagiri is in Trimbak Taluka of Nashik District. It is 10 kms and 243 kms away from Mumbai and Pune respectively. Brahmagiri Fort is famous as River Godavari originates from this very fort. As per mythological story, Sage Gautam Buddha and his wife Ahalya resided on this hill. Unfortunately, a cow was killed by Sage Gautam Buddha unintentionally. He worshipped Lord Shiva so as to atone his sins. Impressed by his devotion, Lord Shiva requested Ganga river to flow down as Godavari to make Sage Gautam Buddha pure. Therefore, Godavari is also called as Gautami.

The top of Brahmagiri offers beautiful view of Trimbakeshwar, Brahma Parvat, Metghar Fort and glimpses of Harihar fort. You can also view Godavari River and Vaitarna river from the top.

Best season to visit is in Monsoon and early winter season.

Meet at Kasara Railway Station at 1:20 am. We will travel to Trimbakeshwar in the transfer vehicle.

Rest Time

We will reach Trimbakeshwar around 3:30 am. We will rest for a while and start the trek early in the morning.

Brahmagiri Fort, here we come

Wake up around 5 am freshen up and start trek to Brahmagiri Fort. The trek is easy as you have climb stairs all the way to top. It will take around 2 hours to reach top.

Yay, we are here

Around 7:30 am we will reach Brahmagiri Fort. Explore the Fort and head towards Bhadardurg. It will take around 1 hour to reach Bhandardurg. Do not forget tot take ample photos and safe selfies. We will descend back to Trimbakeshwar around 10:30 am.

Lovely Rural Lunch

It will take around 3 hours to reach Trimbakeshwar from Bhandardurg. Post reaching Trimbakeshwar enjoy the rural lunch served by the villagers.
